Gig poster for Surfer Blood. I've been really jazzed about vintage type driven Swiss book cover design lately, and Parafora wanted a vintage 60's ad feel to this piece, so I just split the difference and went for retro pulp novel on this one. The Surfer Blood type treatment is a quickie freehand piece based on House Industries' Burbank font family, and I (wisely) tempered my usual tendencies to smother every available inch of the paper with art, in order to let the type and aging work done to this 'breathe' a bit.

I'm also pretty sure the band is probably tired of seeing overt visual references to surfing on all their posters & flyers venues throw together for them at this point, so I made it a priority to merely nod to that in the imagery sourced for this as well.
